As The Arctic National Wildlife Refuge is under attack once again, 100% of the sales will go to the Gwich'in Committeeto aid in their fight to preserve the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and keep oil drilling off their sacred land.
In the late 90's I had the amazing opportunity to hike and camp in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, north of the Brooks Range. It was a life changing and awe inspiring experience to live in that vast wildness for a month. It was my honor to meet the Gwich'in elders of Arctic Village and learn of their ongoing efforts to preserve the land upon which they and their ancestors rely on for their sustenance.
This small linoleum block print "Tundra Bear" (4"w x 2.75"h) was inspired by the day I sat on a bluff overlooking a small stream and witnessed a young grizzly bear roll over and scratch its back among the tundra grass and the tufts of cotton flowers.
